Our response to the COVID-19 pandemic and systemic inequities

During this time of uncertainty, when we are experiencing a collective vulnerability, and varying levels of risk, not being able to physically come together with our loved ones can add stress to an already stressful situation. With that in mind, I’d like to include an intention: may we all be healthy, feel safe and loved.

This is a moment of enormous upheaval and an opportunity to see, learn and understand all the systems of conditioning and intentional structural oppression that has existed and continues to exist in our society, including and not limited to: race, ethnicity, gender, gender identity and expression, sexual identity and expression, immigration and refugee status, ableism, spirituality and socio-economic class.

Thank you to all the brave individuals in every sector, who are providing essential services to the public. You deserve our gratitude along with personal protective equipment, hazard and severance pay along with golden parachutes, which is privilege often given to company executives in various sectors. If you would like to read more about golden parachutes, here are two articles that may be of interest. Please note that this is NOT an endorsement of the entities that published the articles (Here’s how golden parachutes began — and what it would mean for Les Moonves to exit CBS without one, and Despite Strong Winds, Golden Parachutes Still Holding Steady)
